Kathleen Menzies Elective Essay Prize

This prize is generously supported by the School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania. Awarded to students enrolled in the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine.

 

Eligibility

Final year medical students will be eligible for the award provided they have not already been awarded any elective award administered by the School of Medicine. The winner of the prize will be required to do a presentation to junior medical students in the School of Medicine and their essay will be stored in Clinical Library.

The School of Medicine reserves the right not to award a prize if the quality is insufficient.

To be eligibile for the prize, an applicant will need to answer the following questions:

-Produce an in depth report/essay, upon returning from an elective, covering the medical, social and cultural aspects of their placement.

-Include a personal reflection on the impact of the placement on their development as an emerging doctor.

-Pictures and diagrams are encouraged.

-Essay should be between 2,000-5,000 words.
