Prizes

This prize was established by members of the Department of Physics and the Staff Association in memory of the late Dr John Fox, a Senior Lecturer in Physics, a member of the Council of the University and a former National President of the Federation of Australian University Staff Associations.

The reference to female students recognised the late Dr Fox’s concern for equal opportunity for all students, especially in the scientific areas.

Awarded to the first year female student with the highest marks in Physics 1A, Physics 1B, Mathematics 1A and Mathematics 1B, and who indicates an intention to proceed to second year units in Physics and Mathematics and to major in one of those disciplines at third year level.
