This prize was established in memory of Mr Frederic Goodwin Nash Ewence, a former editor of The Examiner newspaper in Launceston, Tasmania.

Awarded to the most outstanding student in English and Creative writing level 300 units who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Education.
